Is there a minimum investment amount?

Syfe does not require a minimum investment amount for any portfolio.

However, depending on how you choose to verify your identity when opening a Syfe account or registering a new bank account, an initial verification deposit may be required:

  • If you verified with iAM Smart: No initial deposit is required.
  • If you verify manually (by bank transfer): Under the Securities and Futures Commission's account-opening requirements, we must verify your identity through an initial deposit of at least HK$10,000 (or its equivalent). This transfer must come from a Hong Kong licensed bank account in your own name

 

A few things to note about the HK$10,000 requirement:

  • It doesn't have to be a single transfer. The requirement applies to your total deposits — for example, two transfers of HK$5,000 each will meet it.
  • You can deposit in HKD, USD, or both. USD deposits count towards the HK$10,000 total based on the prevailing exchange rate at the time we process your deposit.
  • If you're depositing in USD, transfer a little extra. Because the exchange rate moves, we recommend sending slightly more than the HK$10,000 equivalent (roughly USD 1,300) so your deposit isn't held up by a small shortfall.
