What currencies can I deposit funds in?

You can fund your Syfe account in HKD or USD. Each is held as a separate balance in your Cash Balance. 

Deposit in HKD: Deposits in HKD from a Hong Kong bank account are usually free.

Deposit in USD: Deposits in USD from an HSBC Hong Kong account are usually free. From a non-HSBC bank, your bank or an intermediary bank may charge fees. Please check with your bank for more details. 

Initial deposit:

  • If you opened your account with iAM Smart, there is no minimum. 
  • If you verified your account manually by uploading your ID, your first deposit must be at least HKD 10,000 or USD 1,300, as required by SFC rules. 

Note

  • Syfe has separate HKD and USD account numbers for deposits. Always send funds to the account that matches the currency you are depositing.
    • To locate the recipient account information for each currency, select the currency here:
  • If the currency does not match the account (for example, depositing USD into the HKD account), HSBC converts it to that account's currency at the prevailing rate before crediting your Cash Balance.
